A continuous run of sharp-angled THORN links, the third form of the STRUGA brand.
THORN began as a single chain link: an edge sharp enough to be felt on the skin. The family's signature: a meeting of CNC and 3D-modelling. 925 silver with no plating, handmade in Bali.
For everyday wear — for those who want the object to make itself known on the skin.
Material: 925 sterling silver, no plating, handmade in Bali.
Family: THORN — the third form of STRUGA, from the CODEX world.
Form: sharp-angled links, where CNC meets 3D modelling; unisex, for everyday wear.
Finish: Living Silver — the surface darkens with air and skin; the patina is a property, not a defect.
Care: soft cloth or silver-cleaning solution; avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic baths.
Sizes and price
The chain is made in four lengths, and the silver grows with the length. XS is 40 cm and 11 g, $245. S is 45 cm and 12 g, $265. M is 50 cm and 13 g, $275. L is 75 cm and 18 g, $380.
Every chain is made to order and leaves the workshop in about two weeks. The price covers the finished chain in 925 silver with its clasp. The weight given is for the chosen length and varies slightly from piece to piece.
How it is made: the link is modelled first, in 3D or in wax. A silicone mould is taken from that model and the silver is cast. The cast links are finished by hand and closed into a chain.
Worn every day — alone on the neck, or in a set with other STRUGA silver. Nearby are the other THORN objects: bracelets and earrings carrying the same sharp angle.
How the chain differs from the other THORN pieces
The same link is made in seven objects. The chain carries the longest run of it and is the only one worn on the neck.
Everything in the table is 925 silver, except Big Thorn, which sets silver into carbon fiber. The bracelet puts the same links on the wrist and is the lighter way into the family. Big Thorn is the heavy end — silver spikes set into carbon fiber, an object of a different order. The ring holds a single link. The stud and the earring are the shortest entry, and the ear cuff needs no piercing.
Who wears it, and when
The chain suits someone who wears silver every day and wants an object that is noticed, not one that disappears. Length decides how it reads. At 40 cm it sits at the base of the neck and shows under an open collar. At 45 and 50 cm it drops onto the chest and works over a t-shirt or a knit. At 75 cm it hangs low, or goes round twice.
The sharp angle is the point of the family. It is felt through the day — a light prickle when you move — and it does not scratch the skin or catch on fabric. Anyone who wants jewelry they forget they are wearing should take a plain chain instead.
The chain is unisex, and the form does not change with the length. It is worn alone, or next to a THORN bracelet or ring carrying the same angle. As a gift it holds up to daily wear: there is no plating to plate off, and the surface only deepens as it darkens.
About STRUGA. STRUGA is a dark silver jewelry brand founded by Dmitry Strugovshchikov and Ekaterina Strugovshchikova, handcrafted in our Bali workshop by master silversmiths. Every piece is 925 sterling silver. Some objects are left unplated and darken on their own — that is Living Silver; others are blackened at the bench before they leave the workshop — that is oxidation. The darkening is part of the design. It is a brutalist object that reacts and changes through contact with the environment and the wearer.
