Frequently asked questions

Is DARK UNION a world or a family?
Both. DARK UNION is one of the five STRUGA worlds (World IV), and within it lives a family of the same name. A world is a language and a theme; a family is a specific line of objects. The names match, but they are different layers of the catalogue.

Is the oxidized silver of DARK UNION the same as Living Silver?
No. Oxidation is a technique: the silver is darkened deliberately, in the workshop, before the piece leaves. Living Silver is what uncoated 925 sterling does on its own — it darkens gradually as you wear it. DARK UNION pieces are oxidized: the dark tone is set from the start, not left to time.

What are DARK UNION rings made of?
925 sterling silver, darkened by oxidation. A stone is set only after technical verification: a raw natural crystal, Seymchan meteorite, or another verified material. Each piece is decided on its own — the outcome depends on what passes the check.

Are these standard engagement and wedding rings?
No. DARK UNION is an alternative take on the engagement and wedding ring. STRUGA steps outside standard design to show what rings for these rituals can be: dark oxidized objects with unusual, verified materials — instead of the familiar bright metal and faceted stones.

Is the dark patina a defect?
No. On uncoated 925 sterling, darkening and patina are a property of the metal and a record of wearing — not a flaw. In DARK UNION the dark tone is set deliberately, by oxidation: the piece is meant to read dark from day one.
