Frequently asked questions
How much does the earring weigh, and how does it sit in the ear?
The amulet earring is 5 grams of 925 sterling silver, size M, worn in one ear. The weight is present but does not pull on the lobe. This is a mono format: the earring is worn singly, in one ear.
Is this earring one of a kind, or are there many like it?
One of a kind. This is Thorn Amulet #1, a single piece: the stone is a raw, wild-grown aquamarine, chosen by hand and never repeated. No other earring carries the same stone.
What is the stone, and what effect does it give?
The stone is a raw aquamarine, grown in its natural form, uncut, blue in colour. It is material and form, not a source of power. An amulet is an object that carries personal meaning for the one who wears it; STRUGA makes no promise of any effect from the stone.
Why does the silver darken, and how do I care for it?
The surface is Living Silver — 925 silver without rhodium plating. The earring arrives light and darkens with air and skin: the recesses of the relief darken, while friction lightens the raised edges. Patina is a property, not a defect. You can return the metal to the light with care: a soft cloth or a silver-cleaning solution. Do not use harsh chemicals or ultrasonic baths.
What is a Thorn Amulet?
The Thorn Amulet is a type within the AMULET family of the RITUAL world. Its form echoes THORN in volume: like a torpedo cut in half, with a raw, wild-grown stone grown inside it. It is the most expressive amulet of the family, an homage to Daniel Arsham.
