What aquamarine is
Aquamarine is beryl coloured by iron. Change the trace element and the same mineral becomes emerald, or heliodor, or colourless goshenite — one crystal structure, several names, decided by what was in the ground.
Eight earrings here, each built around a raw uncut aquamarine, set in the shape the crystal grew in.
Why raw beryl looks the way it does
Beryl grows in hexagonal prisms with flat terminations — the shape is visible in every piece here because none of these stones were cut. What a jeweller would normally remove as flaws, inclusions and internal fractures, stays: it is the record of how the crystal formed.
Three pieces in this selection also read as beryl in another colour, and one is heliodor — the yellow variety of the same mineral.
What is in this collection
All eight are earrings. Five carry the Thorn Amulet form, three the Classic. THORN is the third form of the brand: a thorn with sharp angles, bringing together CNC and 3D-modelling; around a raw stone it reads as a guard rather than a frame.
Weights run from 3.5 to 6.5 grams — the crystal decides the final mass, so two pieces of the same model differ.
Every piece is numbered

No ultrasonic cleaning — raw beryl keeps internal fractures that cutting would have removed, and ultrasound finds them. Cloth or silver cleaner on the metal, keeping liquid off the stone.

Is aquamarine the same mineral as emerald?
Yes. Both are beryl - the colour comes from which trace element was present. Iron gives aquamarine, chromium gives emerald.
Are the stones cut?
No. Each is set in the shape it grew in, with its natural hexagonal form and inclusions intact.
