The nine rings, by weight and price
Weight is the number that decides whether a ring will layer. STRUGA does not publish band width, so weight — taken straight from the catalogue, across every size — is the measurable stand-in. Light rings sit together; a 24-gram band does not.

The three that layer most easily
- Signature Links V.1 — a chain-link ring, and an open one: the band carries a deliberate gap and holds by grip rather than by a closed circle. 2.7 g at 16 mm. The first STRUGA form, given without ornament.
- Signature Links V.2 — the same language, assembled with intentional looseness so the links move on the finger. Lightest single variant in the catalogue at 2.1 g.
- Triple Drills — three drill bits cast in 925 and soldered into one ring. Its own card says it plainly: worn solo or stacked. One price, $127, across all eight sizes.
The rings that work as the anchor
Fused Cross (3.7–9 g), Thorn (4.7–12.7 g), Double Line (6–13 g) and Heart Lock (11 g) carry enough mass to hold the centre of a stack with one light ring on either side. Brutalism V.1 and V.3 are a different matter — at 9.6–24 g they are wide architectural blocks, and on most hands they are worn alone rather than layered. Naming that limit is more useful than selling the idea that everything stacks.
What layering means when there is no matched set
A stack, in the usual sense, is a kit: three or four bands of the same width and the same finish, sold together, worn as a stripe across the finger. That is not what this catalogue holds. STRUGA casts nine ring forms, each belonging to a design family, and every one of them is made to order for a measured finger.
So layering here is a different operation. You are not multiplying one band — you are putting two or three different objects on the same finger and letting the difference do the work. A chain-link ring beside a soldered industrial form reads as two decisions, not one product line repeated.
Four consequences follow from that, and they are the practical part of this page:
- You choose forms, not widths. The range is nine distinct objects — chain links, drill bits, a fused cross, thorn planes, architectural blocks — rather than one band offered in four widths.
- Weight is the spec that decides. A 2.1-gram ring and a 24-gram ring are both in this catalogue, and only the light end of that range layers comfortably on one finger.
- Every ring is cut to a measurement. Nothing waits on a shelf in your size: each piece is made to order in about two weeks, so a stack is planned before it is built, not assembled from stock.
- The finish is not uniform across a stack. Eight of the nine rings darken with the hand over months; one arrives already dark from the bench, and it will stay the darkest object in any combination.
Why the catalogue has no twin bands
Each form comes from a wax model and a silicone mould, then hand finishing. A twin band would mean a second wax cut to match the first at a fixed width — a product decision the brand has not made. Instead the range is nine distinct forms, and the honest advice is to build across them rather than wait for a set that does not exist. Two rings from the table above on one finger is a stack. Three is the practical ceiling for most hands.
Which ring is actually oxidized
The page you are on sits at an address with the word oxidized in it, so the honest count belongs here rather than in the small print. One ring of the nine ships dark: Brutalism V.3. The other eight leave the workshop light.
Brutalism V.3 — dark from the bench
A wide band darkened in advance by black oxidation. The metal reads deep graphite and only the raised ends and rims stay light. This is a technique applied at the bench, not something the silver did on its own — the dark tone is there on day one. In a stack it behaves as a finished contrast: it will not lighten to meet a neighbouring ring.
The other eight — Living Silver
Silver darkens because sulfur compounds in the air react with the surface and form black silver sulfide — the Royal Society of Chemistry states both that plainly and that sterling is 92.5% silver with the rest copper; the compound itself is catalogued by NIST. Oxidation at the bench is the same reaction, run deliberately and fast. Living Silver simply lets it happen at the pace of wear.
No rhodium, no lacquer, no e-coat: the surface stays open, so the metal darkens with the hand and polishes bright where it is touched. That is the Living Silver finish, and in a stack it has one visible consequence. Rings that live side by side rub, and the contact zones come up brighter than the rest. A stack worn daily for a year is legible as a worn stack — that is the finish completing itself, not damage.
Sizing a stack: millimetres, not half sizes
STRUGA sizes are the inner diameter in millimetres, and that is literally the choice in the order form — the option is named Inner diameter (mm). The values are whole numbers. Half sizes are not orderable, so advice phrased as “go up half a size” cannot be carried out here.

What to settle before ordering two rings
Before ordering two rings for the same finger, four things are worth settling:
- Total weight. Add the figures from the table for the sizes you need — under about 16 grams reads as a stack, above that as two heavy rings competing.
- Knuckle clearance. Two rings pass the knuckle as one column. Measure how much room you have before ordering, not after.
- One size row or two. Triple Drills and both Brutalism forms start at 15 mm; the other six start at 16 mm, so a 15 mm hand has three rings to choose from.
- Which ring carries the dark. If you want the contrast from day one, that is Brutalism V.3 and nothing else; every other combination darkens together over months.
Why the dark ring sits on its own finger
The third row is deliberate. Brutalism V.3 is the one oxidized ring and also the heaviest form in the catalogue; the useful arrangement is across two fingers, not stacked on one. A set designed as a single project — several rings measured to one hand and finished together — goes through Custom Order.
How a stack behaves and how to look after it
Two or three rings on one finger touch constantly, and Living Silver records that. Expect the contact edges to brighten within weeks while recesses stay dark. The contrast increases rather than fades.
Care and storage
- Daily wear, showering, sweat — all fine on 925 sterling.
- Chlorinated pools — avoid: chlorine attacks the copper in sterling and can pit the surface.
- Polishing cloths and silver dips — never on Brutalism V.3: they strip the oxidation the bench put there on purpose.
- Cleaning — warm water and a soft brush, along the surface and not into the recesses. Separate the rings, clean each, put them back.
- Storage — in a soft pouch, apart from other silver, so contact polish happens only where you want it.

05Will the rings damage each other where they touch?+–
They polish each other rather than damage each other. 925 sterling is hard enough that years of contact produce a bright worn edge, not grooves or thinning. On the eight Living Silver rings that brightness is part of how the finish develops. On Brutalism V.3 the bench-applied oxidation sits in the recesses and stays; only the raised contact points come up lighter. Re-oxidation is available as bench work.
