Frequently asked questions
How much does the earring weigh, and what size is it?
The amulet earring is 3.5 grams of 925 sterling silver. This is the small size of the THORN amulet: a compact form that sits well in everyday wear. The stone is held within a diagonal cut in the silver.
What is the stone, and what colour is it?
A natural, uncut tourmaline of wild growth. It is transparent and colourless — the clearest stone in the Amulet series. Each stone is unique in shape, so no two earrings are ever alike.
Why does the silver darken while the stone does not?
The surface is Living Silver — 925 silver with no rhodium plating. The earring arrives light and darkens with air and skin: the recesses of the relief deepen, while friction lightens the raised edges. The tourmaline does not respond to this and stays transparent. The patina is a property, not a defect; you can return the metal to the light with a soft cloth or a silver-cleaning solution. Avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic baths.
What is a THORN amulet?
A THORN amulet is a type within the AMULET family that carries the THORN form into volume: a torpedo cut in half, with the stone grown inside it. It is a homage to Daniel Arsham. The AMULET family lives in the RITUAL world and gathers earrings and necklaces set with untreated, wild-growth stones.
Is the earring sold singly or as a pair?
This is a single object with a unique stone, so it is sold as one earring. Wear it on its own — as a single, expressive amulet — or build a pair with other STRUGA silver.
