AMULET — STRUGA earrings and necklaces built around raw, wild-growth stones. The amulets of this family differ widely — from quiet and classic, a Japanese reading of minimalism, to large and declarative. The most expressive is the THORN amulet: a halved-torpedo form with a crystal grown inside; an homage to Daniel Arsham.

A translucent grey tourmaline held inside the medium Thorn Amulet — one of the five oxidized earrings of the model. 925 sterling silver, 5.4 grams, Rp 3,300,000 (about $185).
The cone is cast in 925 sterling silver at medium size and then darkened at the bench by controlled oxidation. It arrives dark and stays dark: matte, close to graphite, with light caught only on the barbs and along the rim. A diagonal opening runs the length of the body, and the crystal fills it from the tip upward. Four short barbs stand around the opening, two to a side. The clasp is a separate barbed link in the THORN silhouette — it passes through the lobe and carries the cone on a jump ring. Handmade in Bali by master silversmiths, one piece at a time.
The stone is a wild-growth grey tourmaline, uncut and unset, carrying the vertical striations the mineral grows on its own. Against the darkened metal it reads translucent green-grey, and its flank stands slightly proud of the cut edge. Light passes through this stone rather than off it. Three grey tourmalines exist in the model, and they are told apart by surface, not by shade. Earring #20 holds the second darkened grey, with a crystal that sits deeper and reads almost black. Earring #14 holds the third one in bright Living Silver, at 4.9 grams — the darkened cone is the heavier body of the two.
Made this way: the form is modelled first, in 3D or in wax. A silicone mould is taken from the model and the silver is cast. The master finishes the cone by hand, darkens the surface, then picks the stone and seats it. This tourmaline was chosen for this body alone, and there is no second one like it.

Next to a bright hoop or stud in the other ear, the darkened cone reads as a shadow rather than a match. The drop is short: the cone hangs just under the lobe and stays inside the line of the jaw, so it clears a collar instead of catching on it.
