SOLD OUT
This piece is sold. The stone is raw and no two repeat, so the exact piece cannot be remade. Press «Buy a similar one»: we make one close in look, size and finish, with its own pattern and tone. About two weeks.
One-of-one object — unique stone, unique character.
A mono earring for one ear: two cast torpedoes on a short bar, 2.3 grams of 925 sterling silver together, $130. The surface is black oxidation — the silver was darkened at the bench, so the object is dark from day one. Each torpedo holds its own raw tourmaline, and the THORN form is repeated in volume. One of one, sold.
Two cast torpedoes with ribbed fins sit diagonally on a short bar. Each is split lengthwise, and a crystal is set into the opening: green tourmaline in the lower one, pale and almost colourless, milky-translucent, in the upper. Tourmaline spans several mineral species, so the two stones in one earring never match in tone. This pair belongs to a single casting and will not repeat.
Double Thorn (S) #1 — a THORN amulet, a type within the AMULET family, in the RITUAL world. Model Thorn / E-0528, article E-0501-S.
Mono earring for one ear: two cast silver torpedoes, each split diagonally and holding its own rough, uncut tourmaline.
925 sterling silver, 2.3 g, surface — black oxidation. The darkness here is a technique, not metal that tarnished with time: the recesses hold the black, the raised ribs lighten with friction, and the contrast deepens as the piece is worn.
Care: warm water, mild soap, a soft brush in the relief, dried thoroughly. Silver-cleaning solutions, ultrasonic baths and chlorine strip the oxidation — do not use them.
How this piece differs from the other Double Thorns
The Double Thorn model was made in four pieces. They diverge in two things: how much silver ends up on the ear, and how the surface was made. The table is built from the catalogue.
Read the table down the weight column. The (S) format is 2.3 grams, three times lighter than the large one: two short torpedoes that barely pull on the lobe. The (L) format is 7.0 grams, a visible and substantial object on the ear. The second difference is the surface: three pieces were darkened at the bench, while #3 was made in a Living Silver finish, which goes dark on its own, from air and skin. All four are single pieces with raw tourmalines, and the sets of stones differ.
Who it is for and when to wear it
This format is chosen by people who wear one earring rather than a pair, and who want the object to read up close rather than across a room. 2.3 grams is a weight the lobe stops registering within an hour: the earring goes on in the morning and is not thought about again until evening. The dark surface keeps the earring quiet against light clothing and draws it out against dark, so it works through a working day and through the night. It is worn alone, with the second ear left empty, or paired with another STRUGA earring — the asymmetry is part of the intent. As an amulet it is built for daily wear: two stones of different tone on one axis, which is what the owner sees in the mirror and what other people notice. As a gift it lands with someone who values singularity: wild-growth stones do not repeat, and a second pair like this cannot be assembled.
This piece is sold. STRUGA makes a close one to order: about two weeks, with its own pattern of stones. The earrings available now are gathered in mono earrings.
How it is made: the form is modelled first — in 3D or by hand in wax. A silicone form is taken from the wax model and 925 silver is cast into it. The finished earring is worked by hand by a master silversmith, the surface is darkened, and the stones are set in place. Handmade in Bali.
About STRUGA. STRUGA is a dark silver jewelry brand founded by Dmitry Strugovshchikov and Ekaterina Strugovshchikova, handmade in Bali by master silversmiths. This earring is 925 sterling silver. The surface of this earring was darkened deliberately, by black oxidation: the darkness is part of the design, not a trace of time. It is a brutalist object that reacts and changes through contact with the environment and the wearer.
