THE STORY OF THIS PIECE
STRUGA began with CARBON. Multi-layered matte carbon: ultralight, unafraid of water, unchanged by time — the counterweight to living silver. The brand has its own line of signature carbon: six Graphite palettes, a CNC aesthetic, cut from sheet material. CARBON was almost never purely carbon — alongside it, with other materials set in, the MOSAIC family was born.
Read the CARBON form story→MOSAIC — the aesthetic of combining materials. In MOSAIC, carbon is joined with silver, with meteorite, with brass, with copper, with steel. One is set into another, joined with a third in a single plane — and a composition of materials is the result.

Cross V.4 Arctic is a carbon cross with a stainless-steel cross set into it, on a 75 cm cord. It weighs 4 grams. $165, made to order in about 4 weeks.
The body is cut from multi-layered carbon fiber in the Arctic palette — dark graphite run through with blue veining. A second cross, in stainless steel, sits inside it, flush with the surface. The cord carries a sliding knot, so the drop is set by hand. Article N-003-Arctic.
Material: multi-layered matte carbon, Arctic palette — one of six STRUGA carbon palettes; a stainless-steel inlay at the centre.
Family and world: CARBON and MOSAIC, from the RITUAL world. Carbon with another material set into it is the MOSAIC principle.
Surface: matte carbon and bare steel. Neither darkens, neither takes a patina, and water does not trouble them.
Weight and mount: 4 g on a 75 cm cord with a sliding knot.
Care: no polishing. A wipe with a soft cloth is enough; water, sweat and the shower leave it unbothered.
How Cross V.4 Arctic differs from the other STRUGA crosses
The cross at STRUGA is a kind, not a single object, and the versions part company by material. Cross V.4 is the light end of that line: carbon and steel, no silver, the lowest weight on the chest.

The two V.4 crosses differ in palette: Arctic is dark graphite with blue veining, Bloody is dark graphite with red. Where silver enters a cross it darkens and takes a patina with wear — that is Living Silver. Carbon and steel do not.
Who wears it, and when
This is a cross for daily wear, read through intention rather than occasion. Four grams is a weight the chest stops registering within the first hour, and the cord sits soft under a collar — it works under a shirt, a T-shirt, a hoodie. Carbon and steel are both indifferent to water: a shower, the sea and a summer of sweat leave no mark, so the object does not have to come off and go back on.
It suits anyone who wants the form without the weight of metal, and anyone who does not wear silver. It is also a light way into the STRUGA carbon line — the material can be lived with here before moving to a larger object. Worn alone, or beside a silver chain, where the matte plate reads cold against living metal.
How it is made
Carbon comes as sheet material and is cut on a CNC machine — hence the even planes and the exact edge of the form. The steel cross is set into the cut-out, and the object is finished by hand. STRUGA began with carbon: the first tests and the first pieces were made of it, and the brand keeps its own line of six Graphite palettes.
About STRUGA. STRUGA is a brand of experimental minimalism in Dark Fashion, founded in Bali. Founders and designers — Dmitry Strugovshchikov and Ekaterina Strugovshchikova. Production: Bali. Most pieces are 925 sterling silver with natural patina or hand-patination; this object is in-house carbon fiber with steel — stable and colorfast. A brutalist object.
