Frequently asked questions
How much does the Big Thorn Bracelet weigh, and how does it sit on the wrist?
The Big Thorn Bracelet weighs 45 g. It is a rigid form locked around the wrist — it does not bend and it is not built from links, so the weight stays as one solid mass rather than spreading across moving parts. You feel it as a single object on the wrist, not as a chain. Because it is rigid, the size you choose sets how it sits, so read the sizing below before ordering.
What is the Big Thorn Bracelet made of, and how is it built?
It is 925 sterling silver — 92.5 percent pure silver — locked around the wrist with fifteen CNC-cut Classic carbon fiber inlays. It is the most complex object STRUGA makes. Each bracelet is cast in solid 925 silver from a wax model, then fitted by hand with fifteen individual carbon elements; six of those inlays carry the letters STRUGA, one inlay at a time. Classic is one of six carbon palettes developed in-house — matte black graphite, purely industrial. The THORN design code is carried in the silver frame. It does not bend and it is not built from links.
Which size should I order?
The Big Thorn Bracelet comes in five sizes: 16 cm, 17 cm, 19 cm, 21 cm, and 23 cm, measured as wrist circumference. Because the bracelet is rigid and does not bend, size is a hard fit rather than something the band adjusts to — pick the size by your measured wrist, not by feel. If your wrist falls between two of these sizes, a Custom Order can be built to your measurement; the lead time for a custom piece is about 3 to 6 weeks.
How does the surface behave over time, and how do I care for it?
The bracelet combines two materials, and each behaves differently. The 925 silver frame is Living Silver — 925 without rhodium plating. It arrives light and darkens over time: recesses darken, friction lightens the raised edges. This patina is a property, not a defect, and it maps how the bracelet is worn. If you want the silver light again, the patina is reversible with a soft cloth or a silver-cleaning solution. The Classic carbon fiber inlays do not change over time and do not darken; they simply wipe clean with a soft cloth. When you reset the silver, keep cleaning solution to the silver frame and wipe the carbon dry.
What is the THORN family?
THORN is a family in the CODEX world. The Big Thorn Bracelet belongs to THORN and is the first rigid bracelet of the brand. Family names at STRUGA are Latin and are never translated.
