Frequently asked questions
How much does the earring weigh, and how does it sit in the ear?
The earring is 3.9 grams of 925 sterling silver, size S. It is a single earring for one ear. You feel its weight, but it does not pull on the lobe. The body is compact, made for everyday wear.
Is this one earring or a pair?
One earring, for one ear. The Thorn Amulet is worn as a single object — an amulet, not one half of a pair. Each piece is one of a kind: the stone inside is unrepeatable, so an exact matching pair cannot be made.
What is the stone inside, and how is it set?
Inside sits a raw, wild-grown green tourmaline: an uncut stone, chosen by hand. There is no setting — the crystal rests in a diagonal cut through the silver form. The colour and character of the stone are unique to this single piece.
Why does the silver darken, and how do I care for it?
The surface is Living Silver — 925 silver without rhodium plating. The earring arrives light and darkens with air and skin: the recesses of the relief deepen, while friction lightens the raised edges. The patina is a property, not a defect. You can return the metal to the light with care: a soft cloth or a silver-cleaning solution. Avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic baths.
What is a Thorn Amulet?
The Thorn Amulet is a type within the AMULET family of the RITUAL world. It takes the THORN form and renders it in volume: a silver torpedo with a diagonal cut, holding a raw, wild-grown stone inside. It is an homage to Daniel Arsham. Each amulet is singular — in its stone, its colour, and its character.
