Frequently asked questions
How much does the earring weigh and how does it sit on the ear?
The Carabiner #4 Small earring is 3.5 grams of 925 sterling silver. It is the small size, so it sits light on the ear and does not pull on the lobe. It is worn as a mono earring — one, without a pair.
Is the clasp functional, or is it just decoration shaped like a carabiner?
The clasp works. The carabiner's spring mechanism opens and closes for real, the way functional findings do. The earring holds on the ear through that same clasp — it is the fastening and the form at once.
What does "#4" mean, and what other carabiners are there?
STRUGA carabiners are numbered in the order they entered the series. #1 came first, then #2, then #4. #3 is designed but not yet released into the series. Sizes are marked separately: small and big are already out, while medium and large are possible in the future. This is #4 in the small size.
Why does the silver darken, and how do you care for it?
The surface is Living Silver — 925 sterling silver without rhodium plating. The earring arrives light and darkens from air and skin: the recesses of the relief darken, while friction lightens the raised edges. The patina is a property, not a defect. You can bring the metal back to the light with care — a soft cloth or a silver-cleaning solution. Do not use harsh chemicals or ultrasonic baths.
What is the SIGNATURE ASYMMETRIC family?
SIGNATURE ASYMMETRIC is the first form of STRUGA, from the CODEX world. It is the aesthetic of CNC-machined sheet material: sharp edges, even planes, recessed cuts. STRUGA carries a single form across different types of pieces — from a pendant to a chain link to a carabiner. Carabiners #1, #2 and #4 all carry this form. Each piece is handcrafted in Bali, Indonesia.
