There is not one cross here but two. The first is a wide short plate with a thin crossbar; over it lies a second, narrow and long, with a crossbar of its own, shifted to the right and down. The axes do not line up, the lengths differ, the ends of both crossbars are cut on a slant, and the lower end of the long bar tapers to a bevel. It reads as a print struck twice out of register — a device of the Russian avant-garde of the early twentieth century, which took a form apart into straight segments and put it back together with a shift. The long bar carries the STRUGA stamp; a second one sits on the hoop.
The base is Classic, the brand's neutral silver hoop: smooth, matte, with a hinged clasp that snaps shut in the lobe. Three earrings of the brand are built on this base, and all three come from the EXPERIMENTAL family — the zone where the familiar things around us are rethought.
