E-0528 — Thorn + Amulet

A cast torpedo of 925 silver, opened along the cut, with a raw wild-growth crystal standing in the opening. E-0528 is the Thorn amulet — one of the two flagship models of the AMULET family in the RITUAL world, and a model is a form: every piece inside it exists once.

In short. E-0528 is a model, not a single object. It is worn as a mono earring, in one ear: a barbed clasp through the lobe, and under it a silver torpedo whose cut holds a raw stone. It is not a pendant and not a frame around a stone — the metal is opened, not wrapped.

The archive of the model holds 24 documented pieces: 22 earrings and 2 necklaces, each necklace on a 75 cm chain. Weights run from 2.3 to 12 g. Surfaces split 16 bright to 8 darkened. Stock stands at zero on all 24, and that is the normal state here.

Stones counted across the archive: tourmaline in 17 pieces — pink, green, grey, purple and one colourless — and aquamarine in 5. The two necklaces name their stone by colour alone, green and pink.

Because the stone cannot be repeated, the piece sells once. There is no made-to-order route for an amulet: the only way to a piece that is gone is Request similar, and it produces a new object around a different stone.

What E-0528 is

The object is cast, not bent. A short silver torpedo is cut open at an angle, and the raw crystal stands in that opening — grown, not faceted, so the industrial edge of the casting meets something no one drew.

An earring carries two parts. The clasp is a separate U-shaped bracket in the THORN silhouette, four short barbs standing off it, the brand mark struck along one side; it passes through the lobe and holds the torpedo below on a jump ring. The earring is a mono earring — one ear, one object, the other ear left empty.

The two necklaces are built the other way round: the torpedo is split along its length, and the raw stone fills the opened oval face, four barbs standing at its sides. Both hang on a 75 cm chain.

The base is uncoated sterling silver, so the surface behaves as Living Silver describes: bright on the planes, darker in the shadow of the cut, and different on every wearer.

Two THORNs, and the stone is what separates them

The word carries two different things in this catalogue, and mixing them sends a reader to the wrong family. THORN is the third form of the brand and a family of its own in the CODEX world: chokers, earrings, rings and bracelets, drawn from the same sharp angle, with no stones in them.

E-0528 repeats that form in volume and opens it around a raw wild-growth crystal. That single difference moves it: with a stone inside, the object is an amulet, so it belongs to the AMULET family and speaks through the RITUAL world.

The practical rule is short. With a raw stone — an amulet. Without a stone — the form itself. Both are STRUGA, both come from the same drawing, and they live in different families on purpose.

The difference has a practical tail. A THORN piece without a stone is a repeatable catalogue object — the form is drawn once and made again. An amulet is not: its stone is one crystal, and no second one exists.

Classic and Thorn: two flagships of one family

The AMULET family has two numbered models, and they say the same thing in opposite registers. Classic (E-0530) is the restrained one: a clean cylinder, a quiet Japanese reading of minimalism. Thorn (E-0528) is the expressive one: a halved-torpedo form with a crystal grown inside, an homage to Daniel Arsham.

The archives show the difference in scale. E-0528 holds 24 documented pieces against 18 in E-0530, and together they make the family archive of 42. Both models are open in stone rather than fixed to one: tourmaline, aquamarine, quartz, heliodor and others.

One thing they do not differ in: neither can be repeated. The number names a form, and the form is the only part that repeats.

What stands in the archive of the model

The archive is not a shop window — it is the record of what this form has already been. 24 pieces are documented today: 22 earrings and 2 necklaces, and stock on every one of them is zero.

The pieces carry three article numbers, and the numbers describe real differences of build:

• E-0528 — 18 earrings. The base build: one torpedo under the barbed clasp, sizes S, M and L.
• E-0501 — 4 earrings, the Double Thorn. One mono earring carrying two cast torpedoes on a short bar, each holding its own raw tourmaline.
• N-0528-L and N-0513 — 2 necklaces, 12 g and 9 g, each on a 75 cm chain.

What sizes and weights exist

Size is marked on the earrings, and the archive shows how the 22 of them were actually distributed — S 7 pieces, M 9, L 6. Weight follows the stone, so the ranges below are what has been made, not a specification.

Across all 24 the span is 2.3 to 12 g: the heaviest object is five times the lightest, and both are the same model.

Which stones sit in the model

The form repeats; the stone never does. Counted across the 24 documented pieces, two named minerals carry the model, and the necklaces stand slightly apart.

Tourmaline — 17 pieces of the 24

Tourmaline is the stone of this model. Among the earrings that name a colour it runs pink 4, green 4, grey 3, purple 1, and one crystal with no colour at all — a clear prism that reads as glass until the light moves. The four Double Thorn earrings carry two tourmalines each, and because tourmaline spans several mineral species, the two stones in one earring never match in tone.

Tourmaline sits at 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, which is why an uncut crystal survives daily wear on the ear.

Aquamarine — 5 pieces, and two stones named by colour

Aquamarine appears in five earrings, pale blue and long, usually standing well clear of the cut. The two necklaces name their stone in the card by colour rather than by mineral — one green, one deep pink with dark veining — and this page keeps that wording rather than guessing a name for them.

What changes from piece to piece is the whole of it:

• Colour of the stone — pink, green, grey, purple, colourless, pale blue
• Length and thickness of the crystal, and how far it stands out of the cut
• Shape — decided by natural growth, not by a drawing
• Transparency and inclusions
• Weight of the finished piece, which follows the stone

Bright silver and darkened: what is the difference

The model exists in two surfaces, and they are not the same kind of thing. One is a property of the metal, the other is a technique applied to it before the piece ever leaves the bench.

Across the archive the split is 16 bright to 8 darkened. Every darkened piece is an earring — three in S, three in M, two in L — and both necklaces are bright.

How a piece reaches the storefront, and what happens after it sells

The path is short and it has one entrance. STRUGA physically holds amulets, and many of them — but until a piece is photographed it has no card, and without a card it is not on the storefront at all.

The card is that exact piece, not a sample of the family. So it sells once. After the sale it stays as an archive record: the stone cannot be repeated, so an exact copy is not a thing that can be ordered.

This is why stock on an amulet card is always zero and why there is no lead time to quote. There is no made-to-order route for this model — the honest route is a new piece around a different stone.
