Black wedding bands from STRUGA are solid 925 sterling silver blackened at the bench. The colour is the metal itself, converted at the surface — not a layer laid on top of it.
That is the practical difference from most black bands sold today. Tungsten carbide, titanium and ceramic rings carry a vapour-deposited plating over a grey core; daily friction thins the plating and the grey comes through, commonly inside one to two years, and the ring has to be re-plated to look black again. Black oxidation has nothing to peel away. It wears down into the recesses instead, so the ring deepens with use rather than going patchy.
Widths run 4 to 8 mm. Inside-band engraving — coordinates, dates, names, short phrases — is available on most pieces. Catalogue rings are made to order in about two weeks; fully custom and paired work runs four to six weeks. We resize one size up or down at no charge in the first year.

01Will the black wear off a blackened silver wedding band?+–
Not the way plating does. Oxidation is a conversion of the silver surface, not a coating, so there is no layer to chip or peel. On a ring worn daily the raised areas polish bright through wear while the recesses stay dark — the form reads more sharply over time. If you ever want the darkness evened out again, we re-oxidize at the workshop.
02Is a black wedding band silver, or is it a different metal?+–
Ours are solid 925 sterling silver. Most black bands on the wider market are not silver at all — they are tungsten carbide, titanium, ceramic or silicone, with the black applied as a plating over a grey core.
03Can a black wedding band be resized?+–
Yes. Silver resizes; tungsten and ceramic do not — a plated ring in those materials is replaced rather than adjusted. We resize one size up or down at no charge in the first year, and later in life for a small fee.
